Rob was named chief executive officer in 2024 and chair of the board in 2026. He joined Mairs & Power in 2015 as general counsel and assistant to the chairman. He became chief compliance officer for the firm in 2017 and was named president in January 2018.
In his roles at Mairs & Power, Rob is dedicated to the firm’s mission to provide peace of mind and financial security for our clients and shareholders. He also guides the board's activities and oversees the company's strategic direction, acting as the link between the board and executive management of the firm.
His leadership position at Mairs & Power builds on a successful 16 year career with Gray Plant Mooty, a leading corporate law firm, where he also served on the Board of Directors. As a shareholder in the firm, Rob focused his practice on advising high net worth individuals on estate and charitable planning.
Rob began his career in law and finance as an assistant vice president and trust officer at Norwest Bank in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
It is no coincidence that Rob's surname is Mairs. He is the grandson of George A. Mairs, Jr., our founder, and the nephew of George A. Mairs, III.
Rob earned his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
He is a Board member of the Investment Adviser Association and a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. In addition to participating in professional activities, Rob has volunteered his time for several local organizations such as Ramsey County Historical Society, Oakland Cemetery Association, Encampment Forest Association and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Rob and his wife, Aimee, are native Minnesotans who enjoy playing any racket sport, traveling, and spending time with their kids and pets.
