Mike joined Mairs & Power as Vice President and Investment Manager in December 2021, and was added to the Small Cap Fund as co-manager in January 2022 and became lead manager of the Small Cap Fund in July 2023. In addition to Mike’s responsibilities of equity research and portfolio management on the Small Cap Fund, Mike handles the day-to-day management of the firm’s equity analysts. In his roles, Mike is responsible for conducting equity research, buying and selling securities on a day-to-day basis, portfolio monitoring, performance measurement and regulatory and client reporting. He also provides financial advice and services to private and corporate clients involving a range of investment matters.

He has 37 years of experience in financial services. Prior to joining Mairs & Power, Mike was Vice President of Research and Investment Management with Sit Investment Associates, where he provided fundamental research on companies in the Technology and Financial Services sectors. Previously, Mike was a portfolio manager at Ameriprise/Columbia Asset Management where he had the opportunity to work on a variety of products, including small, mid, and large cap stocks in the Technology, Consumer, Financial Services, and Industrials sectors.

Mike earned his BS in Accounting from the University of St. Thomas. He has passed the CFA Level 2 exam and is studying to take Level 3.

Mike grew up in St. Paul, where he also went to college, began his career, and met his wife, Nerissa. Mike and Nerissa have three grown children—Tommy who graduated from college, Megan who is in college, and Leo who began college in the fall of 2022. Mike’s family enjoys time together and with friends, at home and at the lake. He likes to run, cycle, swim, and sail. His family also competes in triathlons, including most recently the 2021 IRONMAN Wisconsin, in which he participated with his wife, Nerissa, and their son, Tommy.
