Mark joined the firm in 2023 as interim director of fixed income and currently serves as an investment manager.
In his role, Mark helps develop relationships with advisory clients and serves an additional fixed income resource for the firm. This includes working with investment managers and traders in establishing strategies for the fixed income allocation of individual client portfolios, institutional accounts, the fixed income allocation of the Mairs & Power Balanced Fund, and the Mairs & Power Municipal Bond ETF.
Mark has more than 40 years of experience in fixed income and multi-asset investment management. He has held roles as a credit research analyst, portfolio manager, head of fixed income asset management, and chief investment strategist, predominantly with Thrivent Financial Asset Management, from which he retired in 2021. Since then and prior to joining Mairs & Power, Mark provided strategic investment consulting services to asset management firms in the Twin Cities, including a large family office.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from St. Olaf College and an MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Mark is a board member of the Minneapolis Foundation, chairing the Investment Committee of this $1 billion community foundation. He also serves on the investment committees for the St. Olaf College Endowment and for the Sisters of Carondolet.
Mark and his wife, Deb, enjoy mountain biking, hiking, golfing, skiing and family time with their four children and four grandchildren.
