Mark serves as chairman of the board and investment manager. In his role, Mark guides the board's activities and oversees the company's strategic direction, acting as the link between the board and executive management of the firm. He also serves as an investment manager to his advisory clients, is a long-standing member of the firm's investment committee and executive to Mairs & Power Venture Capital.

Mark joined the firm in 2004, becoming chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) in 2018 after four years as president and chief investment officer (CIO). He was either co-manager or lead manager of the Growth Fund from 2006 through 2020. He stepped down as CEO in 2024.

Early in his career, Mark was an equity analyst with The St. Paul Companies and later the Managing Director and Process Leader of Mid- and Large-Cap Value Investments for U.S. Bancorp Asset Management.

Following in the footsteps of the founders of Mairs & Power, Mark is an active member of our local community. He is currently a board member of the St. Paul and Minnesota Foundation and Saint Paul Downtown Alliance, and a member of the Investment Committee of Gustavus Adolphus College. In past years, he served as the chair of the Investment Committee of the St. Paul and Minnesota Foundation, a board member and president of the Union Gospel Mission-Twin Cities and a board member of the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul.

Mark is a long-time resident of Minnesota. He earned an MBA from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management and a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

He is a CFA charterholder.

Mark lives in Saint Paul with his wife Terri. He enjoys tennis, reading, cross-country skiing and golf.
