His leadership position at Mairs & Power builds on a successful 16 year career with Gray Plant Mooty, a leading corporate law firm with offices in Minnesota, Washington D.C., and North Dakota, where he also served on the Board of Directors. As a shareholder in the firm, Rob focused his practice on advising high net worth individuals on estate and charitable planning.
Rob began his career in law and finance as an assistant vice president and trust officer at Norwest Bank in Saint Paul, Minnesota, prior to his positions at Gray, Plant, Mooty and Mairs & Power, Inc.
It is no coincidence that Rob's surname is Mairs. He is the grandson of George A. Mairs, Jr., our founder and the nephew of George A. Mairs, III.
Rob earned his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
He is active in Bar Association activities at the national, state and local levels and is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. In addition to participating in professional activities, Rob has volunteered his time for local organizations such as St. Paul Academy, the Blake School, Ramsey County Historical Society, Oakland Cemetery Association, Encampment Forest Association and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Rob and his wife, Aimee, are native Minnesotans who can be found either watching or playing tennis with their two boys or keeping up with their energetic dogs.
